15/07: The Postering Masters Return
We are awesome. Alex and I (Amanda) dominated the postering scene today and advertised in 21 local stores (A new intern record we might add). So we're just awesome.
In other news, we're down one intern today post Harry Potter Mania in Hyannis last night. Poor Riley had his car broken into and is currently not with us :-( I was pretty convinced mine was broken into too, but luckily I was able to poster in the coche today. WOOT.
This is the strangest post ever. I suppose this is what happens when you run on less than 5 hours of sleep haha. But we are running very happily and are extremely excited for this weeks show! We have some awesome people here this week and we can't wait to see the end result!!!
Love,
One of the many sleep deprived interns :-)

13/07: Day in the Life of the ASM
Hi everyone!
It's Will, the assistant stage manager for "Creating Claire" (see previous post). Here's a fairly typical day for me as an intern.
7:50 - Alarm goes off, hit snooze.
8:00 - Get out of bed, shower, etc.
8:15 - Add finishing touches to possible future intern play.
8:50 - Send play to self on email.
9:01 - Bike to downtown Osterville. Park bike at library, go inside, borrow U2's "Joshua Tree" album.
9:17 - Meet Alex (fellow intern) in parking lot.
9:18 - Rock out to "Joshua Tree" on car stereo.
9:31 - Rehash last night's cocktail part Benefit Ball.
9:54 - Arrive at Falmouth Academy (HQ).
9:55 - Say hi to everyone. Try to print out play. Fail miserably. Printer error.
9:59 - Give up printing job. Begin intern meeting outside by discussing ideas for play, etc.
10:15 - Told that interns are making a loud ruckus outside. Move across street and continue ruckus.
10:31 - Think up idea for play based on "Seven Sins."
10:35 - Listen to "Who Are You" on Riley's iTunes.
11:05 - Meet Celia (see previous post).
11:15 - Hole-punch 9 copies of 97-page script. Place scripts in binders.
11:30 - Arrange scripts in classroom on second floor.
11:42 - Talk with Clyde about stuff.
11:46 - Clyde mentions discrimination case filed by Woods Hole scientist who refused to believe in evolution.
11:57 - Actors/CCTP family enter classroom. Introductions.
12:03 - Actors begin first read-through of "Creating Claire"
12:15 - Out-of-body experience involving awe at being in presence of incredibly talented actors
12:35 - Become convinced that Celia is perfect for her role as Abigail.
12:36 - Realize ditto for all the other actors.
1:00 - Break. Pass around menu for Cape Cod Bagels, take orders.
1:07 - Head out to above sandwich shop with head volunteer Jim.
1:11 - Place most complicated/confusing order in Cape Cod Bagels' history. Have intense thoughts of inferiority/worthlessness.
1:20 - Return to CCTP with chow.
1:30 - First read-through ends.
1:50 - Begin discussion of main themes of play/background information.
1:55 - Learn about huge variability in autism (good from dramatist point of view).
2:01 - Explain higgs boson particle and Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Fool everyone into thinking I'm a science nerd.
2:15 - Make huge pot of coffee. Way too much water. Takes about 40 minutes to brew. Pot nearly overflowing. Below average quality.
2:35 - Mention God After Darwin. More stares.
3:00 - Break. Look up times for bus from Falmouth to Woods Hole. Realize I have two options for getting back to Osterville: 5:15 bus (cutting it close) or 6:30 bus. Decide I must make 5:15 bus.
4:59 - End of rehearsal. Dash out of Falmouth Academy.
5:01 - Check directions to Clock Tower provided by Christine. Rehearse directions in head.
5:08 - Stop at red light. Wait for signal for pedestrians to cross. Unbelievably impatient.
5:13 - Become convinced I won't make the bus.
5:17 - Flag down bus as it leaves parking lot of Mall. Enter bus sweaty and out-of-breath but overjoyed.
5:17:30 - Realize I just ran 1.6 miles on sidewalks in non-running attire and made the bus.
5:18 - Ask every passanger if they can break a $5 bill. Success.
6:00 - Arrive in Osterville.
6:22 - Arrive at home.
Only a sample of my daily adventures as a CCTP intern. And to think I'll have to do it all over again tomorrow!
See you soon,
Will

13/07: Just another Manic Monday!
Well it's Monday morning.... Other than discussing our new plans for the inter show (which is moving slowly and I stress slowly but surely) we met with Tony Award Nominee Celia Keenan- Bulger. She talked with us about how she got her careeree started, where she went to school and all the different aspects of the theater that she knew. After we were done chatting with Celia we went up stairs to meet with the cast of "Creating Claire". Not only were we in a room with so many talented people including Johanna Day, Matthew Arkin and Barbara Barrie, but we were also given the chance to sit in on the reading of Act 1. The story (which i will not spoil) is so heart capturing that at the end up the act, we all took in a deep breathe and said WOW. Will is the ASM for the show, which we are all a little jealous about, so he is going to get up close and personal with actors the most. Susan is still amazing. We love her! I don't think I have ever been so fond of an administrator until the internship this year. She did stub he toe the other day at the benefit and now the toe is becoming an alarming blue and purple color. Hopefully we will not have to rush her to the hospital!
Until Tomorrow!

10/07: "Six" -- Friday
Hello CCTP devotees!
Riley and Will are in the command center, surrounded by Susan (Intern Coordinator), Alex (this week's Assistant Stage Manager), Vicky (Stage Manager), Debbie (Box Office Manager), and Clyde (Technical Director and subject of our last post)
Last night, the audience traveled to Israel for Zoe Tirosh's "Six." Without giving too much away, the play revolves around a Jewish couple's trip to Israel juxtaposed with scenes from the 1967 Six-Day War. "Six" continues tonight and tomorrow night at 8:00pm.
Riley is on the light board and Will is running sound from a small booth behind the audience seating. It's difficult to see the stage from our nook: we have to look through a mirror (the "periscope") to see the stage (or half of it).
But we've come to enjoy the seclusion of the tech hole-in-the-wall. We can talk and joke without bothering anyone. We recently hunted through the CD library and discovered some classics from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and CKY. But we're never far from the production: Vicky's stand-by command over the interCOM headset rouses us back to battle readiness.
Speaking of, we have to get back to work!
See you soon,
Riley <3 Will

08/07: Hanging Lights with Clyde
Hey CCTP fans! It's the intern boys, Riley and Will!
Each day, the interns are assigned different adventures in and around the theatre in Falmouth. Today, we're working with Clyde, the technical director, setting up lights and sound for Thursday night's debut of "Six" by Zoe Tirosh.
Clyde is a veteran of both CCTP and Falmouth Academy performances. He has taught us valuable gems--from how to focus spotlights to how to balance on 12-foot ladders.
Under Clyde's steady hand, we were able to finish the setup of the space (get excited--we are!).
We hope to see you Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights!

Back again! Today we had an awesome workshop with Zoey, the playwright for SIX! She told us all about her journey from actor to playwright and how she decided that her passion was to write for the theater. Then, we wrote the worst plays we could possibly think of in fifteen minutes. Although they were supposed to be awful, some ended up being pretty entertaining, including a lizard in the basement and a southern brawl over a can of soda. Then the guys left for a day off and the girls stayed to put up some signs and posters and continued to set up the space. We're about to go sit in on a rehearsal for the first show so we'll leave you here, but keep reading our blog!!!

Crazy early morning! We all got up super super early for some intern bonding at Betsy's (EAT HEAVY) and to discuss our show ideas. We don't want to spoil the surprise, but just know it will be epic. After some breakfast and a LOT of coffee, we went back to FA and had our first meeting as interns. We discussed our show with Susan, the amazing intern coordinator, and tried to get our insane idea on paper. Then, we went upstairs to meet the cast and crew of SIX and headed back down to help Clyde set up the space. It was a long day, but well worth the work because the theater looks awesome, if we do say so ourselves. Until tomorrow...

We're back! After a nice 4th, we gathered at Falmouth Academy this morning to bring the set up and assemble it in the space. With help from Clyde, we put up the band shell that acts as the set for each show we produce. It took us a few hours, but we were successful in erecting the structure and perfecting the space for our first show SIX, which we're all very excited to see. That's all for now, Intern show rehearsals start tomorrow so get ready for some exciting stuff!

Hey internet CCTP fans! We're the new 2009 interns and we're extremely excited to be working for the Cape Cod Theatre Project this summer! Today, we had the pleasure of participating in the Woods Hole Independence Day Parade and had a great time! While the purpose of our involvement was to get the word out about CCTP, we also encountered many diverse forms of entertainment while walking along the adorable streets of Woods Hole. After some intense face painting (which of course included glitter) and some decorating, all eight of us piled into the back of Christine's truck and made our way to the festivities. We saw gastrulating science geeks, a man in a bra, and a woman representing Noah's Ark all while attempting to advertise. In our attempt to entice playgoers, we passed out candy to eager kids and tried to blow bubbles into the crowd, but really ended up blowing them in our own faces. All in all, the effort was a success! We passed out tons of fliers and hopefully spread the word about all of the fantastic plays we're doing here this summer! Photos to come soon!
