All roads lead to Cape Cod, and the closer you get, the more often you’ll see signs that say “Cape Cod and the Islands.” Below we provide directions for starting from of New York City or Boston. From New York —Option 1
250 miles, taking anywhere from 4 hours to as much as 7 hours at the worst
(straightforward, but the traffic, especially on Friday and Sunday, can be daunting)

  • New England Thruway (Route 95) to Providence (175 miles)
  • At Providence take Route 195 toward New Bedford and Fall River (+/- 50 miles)
  • At the end of Route 195 take Route 25 to Bourne Bridge (7 miles)
  • Having gone over the bridge, take Route 28 to Falmouth (19 miles – two rotaries keep straight follow signs)
  • Entering Falmouth, go through stop light, proceed approximately 1/2 mile and turn right on Depot Avenue at Gulf station.
  • Go to the end of Depot Avenue, through the stone pillars and take first driveway on the right, which is marked with a Falmouth Academy and a Cape Cod Theatre Project sign.
  • The box office is in the school at the top of the hill.

Option 2
275 miles taking 4 1/2 to 5 hours
(usually has less traffic than Option 1)

  • New England Thruway (Route 95) toward New Haven
  • Just after Rye (15 miles), take Route 287 toward White Plains (<4 miles)
  • In White Plains take Route 684 (+/- 32 miles)
  • At the end of Route 648 take Route 84 through Danbury and Hartford to Mass Pike (Route 90 – +/- 120 miles)
  • Take Mass Pike East toward Boston to Route 495 South (+/- 25 miles)
  • Route 495 takes you directly to the Bourne Bridge (60 miles)
  • Having gone over the bridge, take Route 28 to Falmouth (19 miles – two rotaries keep straight – follow signs)
  • Entering Falmouth, go through stop light, proceed approximately 1/2 mile and turn right on Depot Avenue at Gulf station.

From Boston — 75 miles taking 1 1/2 hours
(will take longer on Friday night)

  • Take Route 93 South (the Southeast Expressway then Route 128) to Route 24 South toward Fall River (14 miles)
  • Take Route 24 to Route 495 South (16 miles, turn just after the Burger King)
  • Route 495 goes directly over the Bourne Bridge (25 miles)
  • Having gone over the bridge, take Route 28 to Falmouth (19 miles – two rotaries keep straight – follow signs)
  • Entering Falmouth, go through stop light, proceed approximately 1/2 mile and turn right on Depot Avenue at Gulf station.
